I’m a finalist :-)

This morning I got some wonderful news – I’m one of 5 finalists in the Booktrack competition for a fanfic short story based on Hugh Howey’s ‘Half Way Home’ 😀

I feel very humbled, as there were some wonderful stories entered, so I still can’t quite believe that I’ve been so lucky.

Booktrack is a new website that lets you read stories along with a background soundtrack. I’ve uploaded extracts from a few of my other stories – here are some links:

The overall winner will be announced next week. To keep up with my news and get a FREE short story, please sign up to receive my newsletter:

Snow in summer?

I’m in a bit of a dilemma right now.

I’ve written 4 out of the 6 books in my ‘Secrets in the Snow’ series.
My head is full of the characters and their plot arcs.
But it’s summer, in the northern hemisphere at least.

Does anyone want to read about snowsports when there’s azure skies and the sound of the lawnmower chorus outside?

Should I ‘park’ this series for now and write about something more appropriate to the season instead?

What do you think?

They said I should brag…

I'm a featured author at Freebooksy I’m a featured author at FreeBooksy today 🙂
They said I should brag about it: “Having your book featured on Freebooksy is no small feat as we hand-pick all the books that we feature on our site.”

Here’s what they said about the book:

Editor’s Note: These touching tales of new beginnings, lives changed, and friendship follow an interesting cast of characters.

My Snowy Valentine – 5* so far

My Snowy Valentine by Roz MarshallEpisode 3 is now available, and has had 5* reviews so far on GoodReads 🙂

“The words just flashed by. I forgot I was reading. I love the characters.”

“Great story with an excellent ending that will leave you wanting, nay, needing more.”

Here’s the blurb:
One day you have to stop running from the past…
Before he can carry on with his round-the-world ski odyssey, kiwi Mike Cole is helping Jude Winters to run her Scottish ski school whilst her husband is working in — ironically — New Zealand.
In the run-up to Valentine’s Day, the annual ski school race turns into a grudge match with rival ski school, Ski-Easy. Mike has to train his motley team of instructors and shoulder the responsibility of skiing the anchor leg. But when an accident leaves them one skier short, who will they find to complete the team and give them a chance of winning?

Cover Reveal – ‘A Dream for Hogmanay’

Roz-Marshall-Dream-Hogmanay-cover-600x800 My new short story ‘A Dream for Hogmanay‘ will be published next week, and I wanted to share the cover with you 🙂

Here’s the description:

It’s Hogmanay in White Cairns, and cuddly, bubbly ski instructor Debbie Easton is hoping that she might meet Mr Right — or even Mr Okay — at the ‘Hogmanay Hooley’ for a kiss at midnight which will start 2006 in the way she’d like it to continue. But her naivety is nearly her undoing and her dreamy New Year’s kiss isn’t quite as she imagined it might be…

It’s set on Hogmanay (New Year’s Eve) 2005, so chronologically it’s after ‘Skiing with Santa‘ but before Episode 2, ‘Fear of Falling‘.
